Fedora
191 Days until Cheese Days, Recording, etc.
Posted: Mar 9, 2010
Alright, I know there's been some private grousing about the lack of updates, so let me just get my most heartfelt, sincere apologies out of the way right now.

...

And now, on with the news!

We've finally got something secured for Cheese Days back home in Monroe. We'll be playing at the hospitality ("beer") tent next to the brewery from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, September 18. We're still hoping to work a deal out with a local establishment to play Friday and/or Saturday night...be patient. For those of you unfamiliar with the local traditions of Green County, allow me to enlighten. Every other year the powers that be cast aside their profanity (and decency!) laws in the name of beer, cheese, and good times had by all. The quaint little town of Monroe, WI grows from a meager 10,000 inhabitants to a six-figure metropolis where fun-loving humans can come to share in the city's most prized traditions - getting drunk and eating cheese! In a nutshell, you don't want to miss it.

In other non-dairy news, we've booked some studio time to get started tracking the next album. Don't get too excited, there is much work to be done and I don't even want to speculate on a release date at this point, but let the truth be told - progress is being made.

And finally, on a lighter note, we'd like to extend a warm invitation to all. This Friday night, Fedora will be holding a special performance at Babe's to honor the birth of the Shaw. Be aware that Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has declared Friday, March 12, 2010 "Shaw Day," and mandated that all non-essential employees statewide refrain from going to work, and instead spend the day celebrating the invention of the illustrious human. Likewise, he has also mandated that all those not attending be permanently branded (literally) as squares, mopes, donks, and dopes. Hope to see you there.
Mid Month News

Hello and welcome to all of you out there in Fedora land, (as always) not too much to report but I'll try and milk this for all it's worth.

First off, we've got the weekend off for once (well, sorta) so feel free to go and see what the rest of the world does on Saturday nights (probably the same thing you're doing only a lot quieter), then tell us all about it next weekend!

Wow, what a perfect segue. Speaking of next weekend, there will be two chances to catch us. Friday night we'll be playing the illustrious Babe's American Bar and Grill located on Madison's beautiful West side, and Saturday we'll be headed South for a hometown rumble and the one and only Ludlow Bar and Grill. Speaking of Ludlow, I've noticed they've been running specials on shots every time we play there, coincidence?

Also, catching up on some old things, I recently remembered that I was alerted to a few new Fedora videos on Youtube a couple months ago and never passed the word on. You can click here for Fine Line or you can click here for Blue Crash Helmet. There's also some interesting fan footage, and by the looks of Al's hat, I'd say it was around Christmas time...check 'em out and thanks to Bob for posting!

Alright, that's all my brain can come up with at the present moment...until next time.

Tonight's Show: 8pm
Posted: Jan 30, 2010
Just wanted to let everyone know that Fedora will take the stage at 8pm tonight and play until approximately 9:30pm. However, there's plenty of reason to get there early and stay late as many fantastic bands will be sharing the stage with us this evening. More details can be found at www.courtsidedbq.com.
Shaw Naw Not - February 6
Posted: Jan 28, 2010
Thought I'd let you know that it's official, or at least as official as anything gets around here. In remembrance of our, how shall we say, less than pleasant removal from the Sha Na Na show, we will be playing a set at the Skinner Hollow House, which is perhaps better know as "The Dayton House." Also performing is, you guessed it, Skinner Hollow. It will be a time to meet up with old friends and reminisce about how wonderful it was for those ten or eleven days to think we'd have the privilege of opening up for the gold suited greasers known as Sha Na Na. It will be a chance to pay our last respects to what could have been, but never was. For more info, check out the Facebook as the date approaches.

Ahh, in other news: We just added a ton of new shaws, to the show page. Be sure to check it out. In case you were wondering, the Edge-O-Dells is a 21+ campground and is always a good time. I think that's it, until next time, stay drunk, stay warm, stay born.
A note to those advocating censorship...
Posted: Jan 20, 2010
As I have browsed the recent guestbook postings, I've noticed, to my own astonishment, a few of you advocating for what I can only call censorship of free speech. As to the argument that some of these posts are nothing short of illiterate dribble, often offensive, classless, and containing little, if any, reason (be it moral, scientific, or otherwise), I have no objection. As to your calls for me to remove these posts, I have many. In defense of my position, and other freedom loving individuals, I'll defer to the often controversial Indian author Salman Rushdie, who once said, "What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist." Keep in mind that Fedora, or myself, neither defends nor endorses anything posted in the guestbook, but merely allows a forum for free-thinking Shaws and John Jahavians to speak their minds. I'll go out on a limb here and fancy a guess that you were a supporter of the PMRC? Or heaven forbid, the numerous book burning regimes ranging from the Third Reich all the way to Stalin's Soviet Union. I bet you even hate all those sweet Jackass movies. And if that is the case, then it is for you that I gently weep.

It's that time of year again, where the band lowers its crooked bodies to the floor, gets down on its collective knee and asks you to pay $5 to help the band reach local fame. That's right, the Madison Area Music Awards are here again. I can already hear the questions of some skeptical friends, "How can you lazy drunks enter an annual awards show if you haven't released anything?" Around here, we scoff at such inquiries. You see, we did release things, er, sort of. Have you forgotten the tasteful video capturing our journey South (or should I say South By Southwest?). That's right, our six minute featurette Austin "Fucking" Texas is eligible for Rock Video of the Year. And who could forget the groundbreaking, experimental, psychedelic grooves of the Side Project Band? It's there, too. (You'll find it listed as Fedora - The Side Project Band in the Unique Album of the Year Category). Additionally, we were allotted one free entry into an instrumentalist of the year category, so I took the liberty of signing myself up for a shot at "Bassist of the Year," ha! And last but not least, we are eligible for Artist of the Year; no prerequisite required, only that you're an artist (by your own definition of course). First Round voting doesn't start until February 1st, so I thought I'd give you a heads up (not to mention time for some of you to start saving your nickels). More info can be found at themamas.org. As always, your hard earned dollars help to put musical instruments into kids hands so that one day they might have the chance to be just like us...scary thought, eh?
Sha Na Na No More
Posted: Jan 9, 2010
It's a sad day in Fedora camp. As many of you have already heard through the international news wire, Fedora has been ousted from the Sha Na Na concert scheduled for February 6. An investigation is ongoing as to the exact reason for the removal of the prominent local rockers from the bill, but preliminary reports indicate the decision came from somewhere high within the fascist Sha Na Na autocracy, possibly even from former bass-voiced greaser Bowzer, who is rumored to still retain considerable influence over the band despite formally resigning official control in 1983. A source close to the concert indicated that the parties involved gained access to the officially secret, yet totally googleable site, fedoraband.com, and found it utterly vulgar, unflattering, immature, repulsive, and down right retarded. Agreed.
Come to the Show Tonight!

Just wanted to make a last minute please for everyone to come to the show tonight. Shake off that holiday hangover with some Monday drinking! Show starts at 8pm at the High Noon Saloon (701 E. Washington Ave). Only $5 gets you two bands (Fedora and The Playground of Sound). 21+. See you there!
Sha(w) Na Na!

For those of you in the habit of getting online while standing, you might want to take a seat. While this day and age of celebrity overdoses, balloon boy hoaxes, and gun-toting detective snowball referees may have desensitized us to the once unthinkable, unimaginable, and seemingly absurd events that now dominant the nightly news, the following announcement will certainly test the limits of what you thought was possible. Please read on with caution.

The glorious Shaw works in mysterious ways, and perhaps now the true nature of his power is more evident than at any time prior. In the most unlikely of pairings, the blues-rock powerhouse that is Fedora has been selected to share the stage with 60's doo-wop superstars Sha Na Na. The show will take place on February 6, 2010, with more details to be released as they become available. The show will be officially announced tomorrow morning (12/22) on the Morning Mess with Scott Thompson. For those of you in disbelief, tune in to 93.7 and thou shall stand corrected.

Not familiar with Sha Na Na? Born after 1975? Can't remember anything pre-1975? Fear not! Click HERE to see the group performing a tantalizing rendition of Huey "Piano" Smith's classic, "Don't You Just Know It."

All hail the mighty Shaw and this blessing he has bestowed upon us all.
More news???
Posted: Dec 16, 2009
I know what some of you are thinking as you sit there stunned, eyes gaping at the computer screen, just opened beer dropped to the floor, slowing soaking into the carpet or creeping its way across the hardwood...a second Fedora news update in the same week? Well, if seeing is believing, then by all means, read on!

A lot of new shows came to fruition this week...so thought I'd accompany their posting with a brief post. We picked up a few gigs in the Madison area, 3/19 at Riley's Tavern, May 14 at the Dry Bean, and February 26 and March 12 at Babe's. Always a good time, so mark your calendars. March 12, of course, is pending a return visit to Austin, TX for SXSW. More on that as information becomes available. In addition, we'll be taking the Fedora show to Dubuque on January 30 for a show at the Courtside Bar and Grill w/Johnny Trash...perhaps a little preview of this year's Beowulf summer party.

In other news, school's almost out for summer, er, winter. Regardless, the semester break should allow the band a little more time to work on and hopefully finish up some or all of the new tunes we hope to put on the new album. In other words, You're not going to want to miss those January/February shows as we just might throw a few new songs your way.

Finally, we've got a few other shows that are in the works, but not yet confirmed. It's looking like Cheese Days may look a little different for us this time around. There's a good chance we'll be splitting the bill with the Jimmy's at the beer tent 2010. We're not ruling out other shows at Baumgartner's or elsewhere, just letting you know what we do. We also may have landed a gig playing at the MAMA's nominee announcement party on March 27 at the Brink Lounge in Madison. Again, these shows aren't confirmed, but thought I'd give you a heads up of what might be in store for us in the near future.

Oh, and pick up your beer, the dog is getting drunk.
December Update
Posted: Dec 12, 2009
Hello everyone, just wanted to say a few things about our upcoming shows in the month of December. We'll be at Babe's American Bar and Grill Friday, December 18 in Madison. The following week we'll head down to Monroe for a post-Christmas Ludlow Bash. This should provide you with a great opportunity to brag to your friends about the awesome presents you received (and they didn't). I'm also excited to announce that we'll be playing Monday, December 28 at the High Noon Saloon in Madison. We'll be sharing the stage with none other than Joel Pingatore and the Playground of Sound. Should be a great show and a perfect excuse to get drunk on a Monday! And finally, just want to remind everyone to head down to Toffler's on New Year's Eve. Peace!
YouTube and Everything Else
Posted: Nov 25, 2009
Just wanted to alert you to some new videos of us now available online. They are from the Rock Against Autism show in Dubuque on 9/26/2009. You can click on the links below, or search "fedora rocktoberfest" to see the whole gamut. Special thanks to Chuck Minnick and everyone at Exploration Iowa for putting these together.

In other news, this weekend's shows feature a border battle between two of Wisconsin's powerhouse counties: Green and Rock. Who will prevail in this epic saga of county vs. county competition? The answer is obvious: Fedora fans. Check us out Friday night in Brodhead, or head a mere seven miles east to see us in Orfordville on Saturday.

And finally, an update (or lack thereof) on the new album. Due to circumstances beyond (or well within) our control, progress on the new album has stalled. But never fear, as the upcoming months promise to afford us much needed time to prepare our next installment for your ears. To our loyal followers, please, be patient. In the meantime, check out these Youtube videos.

Hey hey, thanks to all who came and saw us at the Hody Bar this past Friday. For those of you who missed us, we can only extended our index finger and shake, as if to say, "Shame on you." We did play in costume, as you can tell by our homepage photo. In other news, we've added a few upcoming dates to the schedule for 2010, among the highlights, our first time playing in Tremor's in Janesville, and our third time playing the Beowulf Winter Party. As the weather turns towards inevitable snow and gloom, be sure to catch Fedora live at your favorite location. If the music doesn't warm you up, I'm sure the booze will.
Damn that's a lot of shows...
Posted: Oct 28, 2009
Howdy. Just wanted to let you know that we've added a few new shows to the "shows" page. This includes a special New Years Eve show at Toffler's in New Glarus. I hope you can all come out to the show. Also, I hope you can come down to our show at the Hody this weekend. It is a special Halloween show! We always encourages those who attend our shows to wear costumes, but we're really encouraging it at this show (even more than at other shows). Even band members just might show up to the show wearing costumes (except for Derek of course, he doesn't like to dress in costume for shows). We make no guarantees, I suppose you'll just have to show up and check out the show. Show!

Also, and as always, just want to give a big shaw show shout out to all of the who attended our most recent shows. It was awesome. (I for one know, that I had an especially rocking time at our last show). Hope to see you at a show real soon. Shaw!
Mad City Music Podcast - Lungs
Posted: Oct 12, 2009
Hey just wanted to let everyone know that the Mad City Music Podcast has posted a new episode featuring none other than Fedora playing our new song "Lungs," live in the studio. There's a few ways to view the video. If you're a member of the facebook community you can friend Fedora and view it on our page. Otherwise there's a direct link to the facebook video here. If you're not on facebook, you can find it on itunes by searching "mad city music podcast." Hopefully the video will be up on madcitymusicpodcast.com soon, and on youtube as well. Check it out!

Get Your Fedora Fix While You Can!
Posted: Sep 24, 2009
Just want to let everyone know that we'll be taking next weekend (October 2nd and 3rd) off so if you're in need of a Fedora fix, you'll need to get it this weekend. Never fear, as there are plenty of opportunities! On Friday night we'll be at Babe's American Grill in Madison. We'll be pulling a double header on Saturday, appearing at the Courtside Sports Bar and Grill in Dubuque at 6:30 followed by a performance at Knutes in Orfordville around 10pm. Our show in Dubuque will benefit autism awareness.

And for those of you who will undoubtedly find yourself home, alone, and completely lost without an evening of our raucous entertainment, might I suggest making your way over to the Crystal Corner bar on Willy St. Our very own Derek Hendrickson will be sitting in with the Cash Box Kings. He'll join the likes of Joel Patterson and "Low Rollin" Joe Nosek for an night of unforgettable Chicago blues. Don't miss it!
Fedora on Facebook
Posted: Sep 17, 2009
As I always aim to please, I suppose I will honor Mr. Jaha's request for a bit of news from Fedoraland. Much to the disapproval of social-networking opponent and drummer extraordinaire Derek Hendrickson, Fedora is now officially on Facebook. Give us a search and become a fan! Wahoo!

In other news, we've still got quite a few shows lined up in early Autumn. Some highlights would include BAMFest 2009 at the East Side Club in Madison this Saturday as well as a pre-Halloween (dare I say, costume party?) show at the Hody Bar in Middleton on October 30. Wear a costume and get in for free! Of course, we have plenty of shows all throughout September and October, and let me tell you , I wouldn't miss a single one if I were you! Check the shows page for more details and shit!

We're still working on that new material. Keep on coming to those shows as you never know when we'll be busting em' out. Until next time, keep on doing what you feel and keep both hands on the wheel!

P.S. Happy Birthday to professional sock-stuffer Alec White!
Tune in to 105.5 triple M this week
Posted: Aug 24, 2009
There's a good chance we could get some radio time on 105.5 Triple M this week. Gabby Parson, the music director and triple M, has said she would do her best to us some airplay. Gabby's in the studio Monday through Friday from 2pm-7pm, as well as on Sundays from 2pm-9pm. If you're not near a radio you can also listen online at www.1055triplem.com.

As always, thanks to everyone for coming out to the shows this weekend. Check us out next weekend as we'll be opening up two shows for Dan Baird and Homemade Sin (featuring former members of the Georgia Satellites).
Summer Festivals
Posted: Aug 19, 2009
As summer begins to wind down we just want to remind everyone that there's still a lot of chances to check us out before Fall. Particularly, we've got a lot of festivals coming up. We'll be playing the Rock Around the Block festival in Janesville on Sunday, August 30; BAMFest at the East Side Club in Madison on Saturday, September 19; and Rocktober Fest, which raises Autism Awareness in Dubuque on Saturday, September 26. Besides the festivals, we've got a lot of great shows coming up. We'll be playing the Apparitions 40th Anniversary Party this coming Saturday and a pair of shows with Dan Baird and Homemade Sin (featuring members of the Georgia Satellites) the following weekend. We'll be opening for them at Scatz in Middleton on Friday, August 28, and again on August 29 in Orfordville. We'll stick around Orfordville after the show and play again from 10pm-2am. Hope to see you there!

The NEW album...
Posted: Jul 22, 2009
Just wanted to let everyone know that we've been working hard this past Summer to produce a follow up to our self-titled debut album -- "Fedora." Those of you in regular attendance at our shows have probably heard a few of our new songs. Among those in consideration for our still untitled follow-up include, but are certainly not limited to, "Island Man," "Brand New Ziggerbooze," "Lungs," "Forbidden Fruit," "Watching You," and "DavO's Basement Boogie." We're still not certain whether or not all these tunes will make it onto the album but those are the songs we're considering right now. We've also got a lot of new stuff we haven't yet played for the public, so be sure to keep coming out the shows because you'll never know when we might decide to throw a new one out there. We don't have a recording schedule as of yet but we're hoping to get started in August. I am a little cautious to put a release date on the project at this point, but I would say it'll definitely be out before next summer (hopefully much sooner). I'll do my best to keep you posted on our progress.
Schedule Change
Posted: Jul 17, 2009
Hey just quick note, the show scheduled at the Dry Bean on August 22 has been canceled due to a scheduling error. The show slated for October 16 at the Dry Bean is still ON.
Podcast/shows/etc.
Posted: Jul 14, 2009
Hello again, just a few things to report. We've been making quite a bit of progress writing songs for our upcoming album and are hoping to get into the studio to start tracking them very soon. On a related note, we spent this past weekend at E-Labs in Madison, WI recording two songs and an interview for the Mad City Music Podcast. The podcast ought to give you a sneak preview of two of our new songs: "Lungs," and "Island Man." The videos should be up in the next three to four weeks. I'll be sure to enter a news post when they're posted. We also want to let you know about a few new shows we just booked. There's two Friday nights coming up at Babe's in Madison and a November date in Portage. Finally, and as always, thanks for everyone who came out and saw us this weekend. We hope to see you all again soon. Peace!

We were a last minute addition to the bill so we'll be playing the afternoon slot (about 1pm-5pm) on Saturday August 1st. In addition, after we open for Dan Baird and Homemade Sin at Knutes on August 29, we'll return to the stage around 10pm and play until bar time. We also added another gig at Toffler's on September 12. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll be able to play outside. Thanks to all who came out to Beowulf and the Friendly this past weekend. All who were in attendance certainly enjoyed the jugs (of beer, of course)!

Blues Song of the Year - "Lucy"
Folk/Americana Song of the Year - "Go Back"

Thanks to all who voted in Round 1! Round 2 voting is now open, although I had some trouble accessing the site this morning. There's a lot of great bands nominated this year so we're really going to need everyone's help if we want to win. You can register to vote here. Voting requires a one time $5 donation which helps to put instruments in kids' hands. Those who voted/donated in Round 1 do NOT need to make a second donation, but still need to vote!

And as always, thanks to those who came out to see us last night at the Hody!
Hody Bar...tonight!

Hey just wanted to remind everyone to welcome us back to WI at the Hody Bar in Middleton tonight. You can get directions here. If you miss us this weekend, we'll be playing at the Dry Bean in Madison next Saturday.
Housekeeping/More Austin News
Posted: Mar 24, 2009
Hello again...just a few random bits. I updated the Myspace as it was badly out of date and updated the links/press page a little bit. Also, the WSJ put together a "best of SXSW" slideshow and chose "My Name," as the background music. You can check it out here. We also picked up a gig at Toffler's on June 6, hope to see you there.

Austin Wrap
Posted: Mar 23, 2009
Just wanted to report that the Austin/SXSW was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, especially those that liked us enough to see us more than once. Another big thanks goes out to Nuno's, the Blind Pig, the Speakeasy, RedGorilla MusicFest, Broadjam, and Musicsupervisors.com. We'll be posting pictures and videos soon, but for now you can check out the Broadjam Blog or a couple of articles from the Wisconsin State Journal: Madison Bands Rock Sixth Street Showcase, Madison Bands Feed Off Festival Hype, and a slideshow featuring lots of pics of Fedora, the Jimmy's and the Motor Primatives. Special thanks to Katjusa Cisar for the great coverage!

As a final note, we just want to remind everyone to come welcome us back to Madison this Saturday at the Hody Bar in Middleton. See you there, peace.
Austin Update
Posted: Mar 18, 2009
Hello everyone, I'm please to announce that Fedora has arrived safely in Austin, TX. We even got to play a few tunes at Doc's bar in Oklahoma City. We finally got into town about 3pm yesterday and had some time to check out 6th Street and catch Jimmy Vaughn at Antone's on 5th. We picked up two gigs today, one at 3pm at Nuno's (Downstairs) and one at 11:30pm playing for a music supervisor's party. Should be lots of fun. We're also capturing all the happenings of the trip for a potential DVD release. We'll try and get some youtube videos up of our shows ASAP. Peace!
Get off your ass...VOTE
Posted: Mar 10, 2009
Equally important and much more interesting than a mundane presidential, gubernatorial, or congressional election is the Madison Area Music Awards. So get off your ass and vote for Fedora! Voting ends March 20, so by the time we're back from Austin it will be all over. All you need to do is check out www.themamas.org, register, make a measly $5 charitable deduction, and vote! We're counting on you folks...do it!

In other news, we picked up a gig on March 28 at the Hody Bar in Middleton. The gig that was originally scheduled that night at the Ludlow in Monroe has been tentatively moved to 3/27. That's still not firm, but we ought to know within a week or so...
One more week...
Posted: Mar 8, 2009
Hey Hey! What a time last night, all you Orfordvillains know what I'm talkin' about...Thanks to all who came out, we had (a bit too much) fun...

In other news, one more week until we hit the road for Austin. We can't wait. We've got good news as well, we picked up another show on Thursday at Nuno's on Sixth St. Steal a car, hijack a plane, teleport, get there...
Countdown to Red Gorilla...
Posted: Mar 1, 2009
Hello all, only two weeks until we leave for Austin and the Red Gorilla music fest...That means only one more chance to see us before...well, before we get back from Austin. So take advantage this Saturday down in Orfordville! Thanks to all who came out to the Lud, we saw a lot of familiar faces which is always encouraging. Thanks!
BSC show/Austin news
Posted: Feb 22, 2009
Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who came out and saw us at the BSC show at the Orpheum on Thursday. It certainly was nice to see all the Fedora fans in the crowd, and those who were there would agree it was a pretty rockin' time. An equally large thank you is deserved by those who came out and saw us at the Friendly on Friday, as well as to the Blend for setting the show up and playing a tasty set. We'll be back in Monroe on Saturday at the Ludlow...9pm don't be late.

Secondly, we finally have some more news about Austin. According to the Red Gorilla website, we'll be playing at 4pm on Friday, March 20. We're still hopeful we'll land a second and possibly third gig that week, so check back for more updates.

Thirdly, we'd just like to remind everyone to vote for us in the 2009 Madison Area Music Awards! There's still plenty of time left to vote in Round 1 so take advantage of it! All you need to do is register and pay $5, regardless of where you live. Go to www.themamas.org to register and vote! All the money goes to charity so don't be bummed about paying the fee! Refer to the news update from a week or two ago for more thorough instructions. Peace!
Reminders...
Posted: Feb 15, 2009
Hey everyone, just a reminder to pick up your tickets to our show at the Orpheum with Black Stone Cherry. Buying them before the day of the show will save you a few bucks! Also remember to register and vote for Fedora in the MAMA's (see previous news post).

And as always, thanks to everyone who came out to our shows this weekend, and thanks to Joe and the rest of the Beowulf Motorcycle Club for having us back!
Several things...
Posted: Feb 8, 2009
Hey hey...Thanks to all who came out to the show in Beloit. As you can imagine it was quite the time. Voting for the MAMA's is now open, see the previous news update for info on how to register and vote. We've got some updates on Austin as well. It looks like we'll be playing at least two gigs, one on Wednesday and one on Friday (March 18th and 20th). However, the gig we were supposed to play on Friday was scheduled at the Blind Pig, which unfortunately was the victim of a three alarm blaze this past weekend. I'll post more info on the status of that gig as it becomes available. Also, the Apparitions gig on March 6th has been canceled. Take it easy...
Vote for Fedora in the 2009 MAMA's!
Posted: Jan 31, 2009
Fedora needs your help! We're calling on all fans to vote for Fedora in the 2009 Madison Area Music Awards (MAMA's). Since 2003 the MAMA's have provided a showcase for local music talent. In addition, all proceeds raised by the organization go towards providing musical instruments to area children. There's a lot of great bands in Madison who released a lot of good music over the past year, so we're really going to need everyone's help if we want to walk away with an award. Voting is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you live in Madison and registration is only $5! All you need to do is register here. First round voting starts February 5th. All you need to do is register, pick a category, and vote... There are numerous categories and you don't have to vote in everyone, but here's a list of the categories we've entered into (i.e. the one's you should vote in):

*Artist of the Year
*Performer of the Year (Rock Category)
*Album of the Year - Fedora (Rock Category)
*Vocalist of the Year (Male Vocalist)
*Instrumentalist of the Year (Guitar)
*Song of the Year - Cocaine Johnny (Rock Category)
*Song of the Year - Blue Crash Helmet (Rock Category)
*Song of the Year - Fine Line (Rock Category)
*Song of the Year - Go Back (Folk/American Category)
*Song of the Year - Lucy (Blues Category)

If you'd like more information about the MAMA's or would like to make a donation, you can visit their website at www.themamas.org. Thanks in advance for your continued support!
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the Frequency this Wednesday, as well as to the other bands that played. It certainly was a rockin' time! We've got a couple of weeks before our next show, but are booked pretty solid after that. Still no definitive news on Red Gorilla, but hopefully it will be coming soon.
Frequency - This Wednesday
Posted: Jan 20, 2009
Hello everyone, thanks to all who came out to see us down in Orfordville. It was a good time and we should be back there in early March. We've been getting a lot of inquiries regarding the details of our upcoming performance in Austin, TX, for the Red Gorilla Music Fest (occurring during SXSW). We apologize, but we're still waiting as well. I'll post the information as soon as it becomes available. With that said, there are some things floating around the rumor mill, most notably that we may end up getting more than one slot and could possibly be joined by our good friends/fathers "The Jimmies." Again, I'll post the details as soon as they become available. We also want to encourage everyone in the Madison area to come out and see us at the Frequency this Wednesday night. There's a few other bands on the bill and it should be a great show. Starts at 9:30pm, $5 dollar cover, 21+ (or younger with fake id). More info available at www.madisonfrequency.com.

Happy New Year!
Posted: Jan 8, 2009
Happy New Year! First of all, thanks (as always) to everyone who came out to see us these past few weeks, especially those who came over to our New Year's Eve Bash. We've got plenty of shows coming up in the next few weeks so there's plenty of opportunities to come out and see us, including a Wednesday night (Jan. 21) gig at the Frequency. We're pretty sure we're going to be playing down in Austin on Thursday, March 19, but there's still a small possibility we'll end up playing Friday or Saturday. Also, as the new year begins, so does another round of the Madison Area Music Awards. Fedora will be entering a few different categories and voting is open to the public. You can register for free (I think) at [url=http://www.themamas.org]www.themamas.org/url] and help us take home some awards. Finally, it looks like we'll be having some special guests for our Saturday day show. It's rumored that Jimmy, Birddog, and several others may stop by to share the stage with us, so be sure to check it out. Peace.
Baumgartner's show is ON...
Posted: Dec 17, 2008
Hey just to let everyone know, the show at Baumgartners on January 3rd is officially on...music starts at nine, show is 21+ (no exceptions, sorry).
ahem...News!
Posted: Dec 8, 2008
Another news update...Well, there's not a whole lot going on, but I'll try and make a few statements. First, thanks (as always) to those who attended the show at the Frequency and also down at Schwoeggler's the day before Thanksgiving. Both shows were pretty fun. We learned some new tunes as well, Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," "King of the Road," by Roger Miller, a Skynard tune which will be sung by Lee when he's around and another AC/DC tune. We're still working (albeit slowly) on some new originals as well. As far as shows go, we've got quite a few coming up back home in Monroe over the holiday break, so try and check that out. The show January 3rd at Bummies isn't 100% for sure yet, so double check the site before coming. The two shows at Ludlow are actually both birthday parties. Lisa is turning 21 on December 27 and Old Man Wartenweiler is turning the big 5-0 on January 10, perhaps another rendition of "Birthday Johnny" is in order. Anyways, be sure to stop down and check that out. We'll also be playing the Beowulf Winter party on Valentine's Day. Last year's winter party had some incliment weather that limited the turn out, but hopefully this year will be a little warmer (and less windy). We're still waiting for more details on South by Southwest, but I'll inform you of the date/time/club we'll be playing as soon as we know for sure. I think that's about it...peace.
Fedora Headed to Austin/Possible Movie Soundtrack
Posted: Oct 23, 2008
Greetings. It's been a while since the last update so there is quite a bit of news to report. First and foremost, Fedora has received confirmation that we will be playing in Austin, Texas at the RedGorilla Music Festival taking place March 18-21. For those of you who don't know, RedGorilla takes place during the same time and place as the critically aclaimed South By Southwest festival. We've tossed around the idea of a fan bus going with us, so we're open to any feedback on the subject.

Secondly, as reported in various local news outlets, our song Vampire is being considered for use in a film about (you guessed it) vampires. We're not sure whether or not the song will be used or not, nor were we provided with too many details about the film, but we'll keep you posted.

Thirdly, thanks to all who came out to Ludlow last Saturday to check out the CD release party. We were delighted by the number of folks who came out. Special thanks to Jimmy, BirdDog, Roy, Stephanie, The Crashers, Joel B., and Honker for sharing the stage.

Fourthly, we've got quite a bit of time until our next show (11/26), so hopefully when we finally do play we'll have some new material worked out. We're working on a few new tunes for our next album which are pretty cool. Keep your ears open and be sure to check us out when we finally do play again.

Finally, while we'll make little or no attempt to censor the guestbook, let's try and keep the posts within the realm of human decency. Most notably, please refrain from referring to the female sex as, "sluts," "tramps," "whores," "bitches," etc...

That is all.
Odds and Ends
Posted: Sep 22, 2008
Thanks to everyone who came to see us at Baumgartner's. We certainly had a blast and hope you did, too. As previously noted, the album is now for sale. You can pick up a copy at any show, or at Baumgartner's in Monroe. I still haven't had the time to post the songs on the website, but should get around to it soon. We also have t-shirts for sale, there are four varieties, all of which are extremely stylish. We're working on a CD release party (sounds counter intuitive as the CD is already released, but go with us on this) in mid-October, which hopefully will feature Jimmy Voegli, Bird Dog, and a few other very special guests. That's all for now - peace.
Fedora (the Album) Now Available
Posted: Sep 13, 2008
Alas! The long awaited album has arrived. Online sales will begin soon, but for now you locals can pick one up at any show for the clean, slick price of $15. If you'd like to try it before you buy it, check back in the near future. You should be able to stream the entire album off the site within the next week and we'll also have a few tracks you can download. Also watch out for Fedora shirts as well (coming soon, we've got three stylish styles). And last, but most certainly not least, don't you dare miss the Fedora Cheese Days bash taking place this Friday and Saturday (9/19) and Saturday (9/20) at Baumgartner's in Monroe. I think we'll start around 9, but you'll probably want to get there early to get your fill...
News/Last minute show
Posted: Aug 25, 2008
The album news page should be updated with some more current information, including track listings and credits. The album, including artwork, is finally complete and is currently being duplicated in Minneapolis, so we should have copies available sometime during the first week of September for sure. No word yet on any kind of "release party," but you should be able to pick up a copy before then. Also, we picked up a show last minute. It's tomorrow (8/26/08) at the Cardinal Bar in Madison. Check out the shows page for more details.
Album Update
Posted: Aug 22, 2008
Alas, we finally have an album update. Fedora's first album was recently mixed by Mike Zirkel at Smart Studios and should be released within weeks. We should have a cd release party (or two) scheduled in the near future. You'll be able to pick up a copy at any Fedora show (including Cheese Days at Bummies) and we should have a song or two available for free download on broadjam.
Long Awaited News Update
Posted: Jun 6, 2008
Finally some news...After several long delays, we should soon be putting the finishing touches on the album before mixing. We've got some new shows coming up. We're especially looking forward to the Beowulf Summer Party on June 14.
Recording update, potential live album
Posted: Mar 25, 2008
The band has begun recording tracks for their first full-length album. See the Album News page for complete details. The band has also been discussing the possibility of a potential live album and/or concert video to be filmed at the Beowulf summer party in June of 2008. No details are available at this time and the idea remains purely speculative. We have a few shows coming up in the near future, so be sure to check those out.
Album Info/Other News
Posted: Mar 3, 2008
A new page has been added to the website containing news and updates on our first full-length studio album. News and information will be posted as it becomes available so check back frequently for updates. Thanks to all who came to the Klinic (and the after party) on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We've also got two shows booked for Cheese Days in Monroe. We'll be playing at Baumgartners' on the Square both Friday and Saturday night. If you're in the area, and like cheese, booze, music, or all three at once, you shouldn't miss it.
Thanks/Press

Hey thanks to all who attended the show on Saturday at the Klinic...it was definately a good time. I think we'll be playing back there on March 1st, but I'll post it under the shows page when it's confirmed. Also, Erik was kind enough to post some more videos of us on youtube. They are from the show two weeks ago at our house and can be found here. In other news, we got a (not-so-favorable) review in the lastest edition of the Isthmus, although the writer certainly seems fond of Al and his "unrivaled sexual charisma." Check that out online here.
Thanks

We'll probably have another show here in the near future, so watch out...In the meantime, check us out on at the Klinic this saturday. A few people took some videos of the show as well, I'll try to collect them and post them either here or on youtube.
